Have Bubble Algae? Forget Emerald Crabs, try a Naso Tang.

I had bubble algae in my 150 gallon reef. I had read some snippets about Nasos eating Valonia, so I decided to try it a couple months ago and bought a small Naso. No more bubble algae in the 150. My 100 gallon reef had it in there on some of the rocks and on the overflow, a mild case, I'd call it. I trapped the Naso last wednesday and moved him temporarily to the 100 gallon. Just checked and all the Valonia in the 100 gallon is now gone. He even ate the loose ones that got pulled against the MP40 wet side intake slits. I've had Valonia in this reef for more than a year, and tried Emeralds to no avail, and he wiped it out in just 5 days.

I don't think it matters. Didn't read that any type was better than the other. The one I am using is a regular old Indo, non blond type.

It makes sense that some other Tang Species would also work. I've had a Kole in this reef that has not touched it, but he is more of a rasper.
