In an attempt to provide a quick snack for my one and only fish (Mandarin) I apparently dumped a net full of silversides instead of Mysis.

Have I just completly screwed my reef and introduced a school of fish that I will never get rid of?

FWIW.... 29 gallon softie reef, zoas, hammers, leathers,

:(

Live?

Silversides are like minnows. They should be near the top of the water. Good luck!

Lol that's sounds pretty funny. Can't tell u how many times I did that kinnda shtuff. I feed my mandarin copepods. Does yours even eat mysis mine wont

The Mandarin and my Cleaner shrimp do indeed eat them, and they do hover around the center. It is sort of interesting to see them school around the hammers, but I have a really bad feeling about this....DoHHHHH!

they will probably end up dying off due to lack of food small enough for them to eat(im guessing they are small if you confused them with mysis). I wouldnt worry too much about it.

and PICS!

Yeah pm me that info too.
You should be able to net the majority of them out. If you can't at first and do need small foods for them then get some frozen cyclopeeze for them until you do get rid of them. Anyone with a predator tank would probably be happy to come by and help

I have not seen live mysis anywhere. I did see for the first time live silversides this weekend at Petland Dunwoody.

Sorry guys, i should have specified...The Marine Corps recalled me to active duty to fill a staff position at Marine Forces Reserve here in New Orleans. We have two reef stores here in NOLA that are really great.

They were out of myss this weekend and said that my mandarin would like the silversides just the same. they are tiny, they almost look like those miracle of life conception videos....

For the 25+ sponsors out there... THERE IS A MARKET TO BE MADE OFF THIS THREAD :)

Cool, what kind of price do they fetch? I found them at 500/$65 online + s/h. What are the reef stores there? I visit family in New Orleans a couple times a year and wouldn't mind checking them out.

It was a large bagful. I'd have to say there were at least 200 plus in the bag. That and a 5gal bucket of fresh and 5gal bucket of salt water came to a total of $4.00 in cash.... I'm still at work tonight, but I'll throw a picture of the system up when i get home....
