Looking for a reliable heater for a Nano tank. Its a 24 gallon NC so I figure a 50W would be the ticket. In the past I have used the Stealth heaters and have used multiple small ones to reduce the chance of overheating the tank. In a Nano tank I dont have that luxury so.......

I found a couple at Dr. Fosters that should work but have yet to use these particular heaters. Any thoughts????

Having worked in the LFS industry for 7 years... I don't trust glass heaters. too many things can go wrong. I adore the stealths... but I dont know why you cant have one in you're 24? I've always had one in my nanos 5-29gals.

Cannot speak on the first heater as i have no experience.

I had a Finnex stealth heater that craped out on me in the first month. It wasn't properly sealed so water got into the heater and they will not cover that under their warranty. I am now using a
index.jsp

I like the stealths also, but I have had them overheat and cause stray voltage in my tanks over the years. I guess they all do that to some degree. Was just looking for an alternative. I probably need to invest in a Ranco controller to control the heater for extra Insurance. Ths is the first Nano tank I have had and I dont think it would take much to overheat it.

Not much at all! It will also cool off really quick, found that out when the finnex heater died. Luckily I was working out of my home office that day. I ended up having to put in the only other heater I had on hand which was a Won Brother 200w heater. Took up half my tank, but I didn't have any loses.

<span style="font-size: 12px;">I have a Rena 50 watt in my 14 gal. Bio Cube. It is unbreakable (so they say) the water flows through it and it fits well in the first chamber. It is also very accurate. My tank temp never fluctuates more that half a degree.

whatever you do, don't waste your money on finnex, the stuff is garbage.

I've heard the new Jager heaters are crappy. The old stuff is great.

I agree Finnex is Junk, and I dont want a heater that is constructed of glass either. I may order a stealth.
