Heater stopped working?

Got home today and realized my coral looked pretty crappy. I then just felt the water and wow was it cold! It it turned out my heater stopped working today. When I plug it in, it turns on for about 30min but then shuts off? It's an aquatop D2HT-450w and was bought less than a year ago. Has anyone ever had problmes like this before? I curently have my backup heater running but what's a good heater to get thats reliable?

I've seen many posts here in ARC related to heaters. My opinion and i've read others here on ARC whom recommend the EHEIM Jager Aquarium Thermostat Heaters. On the plus side; they are not made in C****. That's all I use; Jager Heaters.

I've had plenty of heaters die. Now I have like 7 of them in my sump lol

I just replace the exact heater this week that was only 2 months old with the same issue, contacted where I bought it and they didn't even want to exchange it, they just gave me back my money.
Guessing they is some issue with the aqua top manufacturer.
Went with reef octopus titanium with the controller.

The others are the Cobalt titanium before I knew the Jaeger was better. Especially with Red bull :cheers:

Did you return it to the store or the actual company?

i got it from an online retailer and when i contacted them, they just wanted to refund and not have to deal with the manufacturer.
if you under a year and maybe have your receipt, it would help just to contact manufacture direct or the retailer to see if they would help.

I don't have the recipt but I got it at Creation reef so it should be under my name. I'll have to check.

Ehiem are great heaters (it's all I use too) but still I've got two in my sump. You could buy two a little smaller than the size needed instead on the one big size so that if one goes out...
Easier said than done when it comes to $$$ but it makes me feel better in the winter.

I agree with everyone above, Jager all the way. I have two in the sump right now, even tho I trust em, Its nice to have that redundancy.

I learned about cheap heaters the hard way. I only use Jager now.
