Hello,

I am a graduate student at University of West Georgia. For my research project, I will require large amounts of Hair algae, I would like to know if anyone has some they would be willing to send to me, if so please respond so we can work out the details.

Well that's a first. A few days ago someone was asking for aptasia and now someones asking for GHA. Seriously, what's this world coming to?!?!

I have a limited amount that I suck up whenever I do a water change. Not sure it would be worth the time and effort though. I mean, it's not a whole lot but you can certainly have it. I'm sure there is someone that's battling it that can hook you up. If not, I'll PM you picture of what I have growing and we can work something out. Really, you shoul have hit me up in October. I was having serious hair algae issues.

I will wait a few days to see if anyone says they have a significant amount infesting thiers aquirium right now, but if not anything is better than nothing and from what ive read the stuff can grow pretty quickly.

In case anyone is curious the GHA will be used in creating an artificial food for Sacoglossa that contains functional chloroplasts for them to incorporate via kleptoplasty.

There's a device that many reefers here use called a "algae turf scrubber". Basically its a sheet of plastic that they grow hair algae on... and its become quite the fad. Once it gets overgrown they just scrape the algae off and throw it away. So this should be a pretty easy request to fulfill. I think @anit77 @enderg60 @seand @hzheng33 all use one and there are likely many more.

Oh man, Oh man, I just happen to know that my man @anit77 has an algae turf scrubber that needs to be cleaned. Fingers crossed that he didn't take care of it on Sunday!

My scrubber does need cleaning. and I probably have about 4 to 6 cups full wet.

Does it have to be fresh, if I scrap it all off and put in in a gallon ziploc will that work for you?

I'm in Duluth near PIB and Sugarloaf. Cleanings happen every 10-14 days. Let me know what works for you and I can plan to clean it around your ability to pick it up.

right now I cannot make it on Thursdays or Fridays, but any other day of the week I can, just let me know what day and time you plan on your next cleaning and I can come out that afternoon or the next day depending on what time you would be done.

Thanks for the offer, I could make the drive to Norcross this sunday if that would work for you. Just give me a time that works for you, and a pick a public place to meet at. I can bring a cooler, but if you can put the GHA in a bag with enough water to keep it from drying out that would be great.

Well I didn't hear back from ricky5415 after his offer, so anit77 if your offer still stands, I can make the drive any day this week, just give me a day or two heads up if your going to do a cleaning.
If anyone else has a ATS or unwanted hair algae in their tank, I would appreciate if I you could let me have it.
