Hi ARC, I haven't posted here in a while...

Just want to introduce myself. I have a 120 Gal mixed reef, with LPS and SPS. Been reefing since 2002. Studied Marine Biology (no degree) in college some and been certified SCUBA since 1996.

I've decided that I might want to start going to local meet ups and frag swaps so I came to this board to check it out...

Also, interested to see if there are any group scuba outings... my wife doesn't dive, and I can't find anyone in my group of friends that wants to try it either...

Cheers!

Will

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Here's some old pictures of a few of my corals... These are about 4 months old... I need to get some updated pictures. Will update with newer pics soon!

How about some pics from your diving? I'm looking at getting into it, and always love seeing some diving expedition pics....even if they're grainy!

I've taken some snorkeling, but not diving. Wish I could though. To be honest, I haven't dived in a couple of years. I love it, but don't get enough opportunities to as much as I'd like.

I need to get my equipment serviced, but wouldn't mind a "cheap" group dive trip if someone wants to do one. Welcome Gabba Gabba. I like the Ramones too ,unless you pulled the name from the movie Freaks, which is cool too.

Yep I love the Ramones. Of course they got the song from the freaks movie.

Nice creature tattoo! Is that on your arm?

I'm all about cheap. There are some cool day trips like vortex springs that would be pretty cheap. It's cold there though, especially this time of year. I Don't mind looking for adventure though.

Hey, yeah, the creature is on my arm, along with alot of other tattoos. I wouldn't mind doing a vortex/morrison trip. However, there isn't much to see there if you aren't cave trained. I have the intro to cave level certification, so those places are always alot of fun for me. I however wouldn't go down in those holes without someone that was atleast cavern certified. Soon the jetties will probably be bumping for some cheap shore diving in PCB and Destin.

Once I get my gear serviced, I wouldn't even mind just going out to do some lanier diving. I've logged a few hundred dives in lanier and always have a good time out there.

FWIW- You can free dive to the platform there (I did it).

A good place to go for a check-out dive, but go ahead and drive another hour+ to the coast for a real dive, JMO.

PCB sounds fantastic... Lanier sounds like fun, I've always wanted to do it, but never found anyone willing to... I don't have gear, though, so would need to rent the BCD, regulator and a few things.

So, I got the email for the meeting tomorrow, but no mention of where it is... (sorry, I couldn't find it on the page either).

Can someone tell me where the meetup is? Also, are frag swaps common at these meetings, or is that a separate thing? I have a few I could bring...

As for frag swaps, yes they are common... but typically it is delivery/pickup of presold stuff. Not saying you couldn't do it without prearranging, but you might want to post a list and prices before you head out so people will seek you out.

Thanks for the link! not sure if I'm gonna show yet or not... I can't post in the for sale forum yet or PM folks yet... which is too bad b/c I missed out on some frags I really wanted last week. oh well, maybe next time...

nice! I have a few as well...

I met some great folks at the meeting last night... glad to have come out to a meeting finally... I know it might sound silly, but it's nice to meet folks that share the same passion for reefing as I do...
