I know Blue Tangs are ich magnets but my kids love dory. Anyway, I've had it for awhile and the other day I notice some spots so I kept an eye on it and sure enough within a day or of noticing it, it took off and covered it. It is still eating like a horse and doesnt act strangely but I can't get it gone. I've tried hypo I've tried Ich-x. I just don't know what else to do. I have it in a hospital tank. Please help!

I would put it in the hospital tank and treat with copper for a month atleast. I just had a long battle with ich and it cost me some nice fish but copper is the best thing and the only way I've had luck getting rid of it

If it is still eating, try metronitozol + focus by seachem. Soak the food in selcon, garlic, metronitozol and focus. Follow the directions exactly. Feed heavily and do frequent water changes. Try to make sure conditions are stable.

I picked up some today and started feeding it to them we don't have selcon yet so I got amino by brightwell. Those are close to the same thing right?

Is that safe to feed in a DT with corals?

Not sure about the amino from brightwell. It's not going to be the same, but possibly similar.

Edit:

Yes, as long as you use it with focus. That acts as a polymer so that the metrozitozol isn't overy available to harm inverts.

I usually make sure to maintain active skimming and run fresh carbon of I ever have to use it in a tank with corals.

My memory may not be correct but unless the blue tang was the only fish in the DT all fish that shared that tank will most likely have ick, unless they have special immunities.I think the Ick spores are viable for 8 weeks Catching the tang and moving him would cause more stress. I leave my ICKY fish in the DT and start feeding them garlic guard on the nori along with silicon Turn the temp up 2 degrees, cut back on the lights. If the blue tang had visible signs your other fish (if there are other) have already been exposed and no doubt it will show up sooner or later. I do not add anything new to the tank for 8 weeks from the day I no longer could see any more. :wine:

If the ICk is not so bad, I would just let the fish fight it naturally. Try lowering the temp. What is the temp of your system? Did you recently change something to cause the fish to be under duress?

Ripped Tides method has worked for me several times
I do like to feed shirmp slowly so I know they eat the meds and not let it sit in the tank very long.
Also if you feed pellets spray them with water sprinkle Metro on them and then Focus and let sit for a min. Then add Garlic or other vit.s and feed.

Thank you everyone for the advice. I bought the focus and metro and started feeding it to all the fish in my display and everyone that was showing signs of ich has now cleared up. So I should continue doing this for 8 more weeks?
