Currently running a 250w halide about 16" off the water with coral being another 8" under the water. I will be going to this light fixture:

ATI 6x24 t-5

Do i need to do anything to adjust corals to avoid losing my bright colors?

Thanks im so stoked to start my new build thread if everything works out its gonna be something special. im trying to keep it under wraps but a couple people may know what ive been contemplating getting.

your colors will change that's for sure. I'd highly suggest though acclimating your corals over at least a week. ATI makes serious fixtures....gotta love active cooling. At any rate, just do what you'd normally do with adding new lights and you'll be fine.

Yes, you still need to be safe and use protection.

Wait, wron speech.

The spectrums and such of t5s versus halides are different, so I would still start off with a low photoperiod and work it up over a few weeks. You will probably lose some color, but once you are at full power they should come back. They will be different though. THe corals will react differently to the different light source. Joe Sailfish has 1st hand experience, and said some changes were for the better, some not.

You will just have to pick and choose what corals you like best in your tank with teh new lights. But you have a solana, so you are use to having to carefully select livestock since you cant just jam pack it like my tank, which resembles a thrift store for corals.
