Part of your CUC... leave it.
So far, only one in this tank that I can see. I just started this 20 gallon with live rock from an established tank of mine.

I have some corals along with the new stranger. Will it harm the hard corals?

What is CUC? I'm kinda newbie with reefs?

ooooooooo. I knew that? I like a clean up crew when things get messy. Thanks for the insight. 8 ).

Edit:

I have a bare bottom tank with two pieces of live rock. Should I add a little crushed coral for the CUC or leave it alone. This is my newly established 20 gallon that I will hold my newcomers in [my holding tank for new arrivals].

I've got some sand if you need it, neighbor.

I appreciate the offer. I purchased two bags fof reef sand from Petsmart so time ago. I also have a small bag of crushed coral that I've had for many years now. I'm just hesitant on placing sand or small crushed coral in my holding tank, in case I have to medicate something?

If this tank is a QT or hospital tank I would leave it bare bottom. If you have to medicate the fish the medication would absorb into the sand bed. In addition, you want to be able to see if anything is coming off of the fish you have in it such as parasites before you move the fish to the display tank.

Thanks for the info.

How old is that sand you mentioned? It typically has a freshness date and a temp range for storage. Not sure if it just dies of if it gets dangerous, but ya may wanna check it out.

I purchased the sand from Petsmart about 4 months ago. Who knows how long it was on their shelf. I don't ever recall seeing an expiration on sand, but I'll check.

All I need to do in place the sand in saltwater and add a pump to circulate the water until I put the sand in a reef tank? Your thoughts?

How often should I add bottled nutrient supplemental food to a brand new 20 gallon tank with new frags?

Have you tested your water parameters yet? That would be a better start vs. add unnecessary supplements.
