I am new to the hobby and have a oceanic 120 tech and am wondering what min. size sump to build. I have been looking at different designs for this sump. refug. but would be open to any advice.

Are you putting the sump under the tank? I have that same tank but have my sump in the basement. There is a good thread specific to Oceanic Tech owners on RC that you might want to check out.
I looked at your build. It is very nice. I went ahead and bought a 65G passive refug. setup. Very technical but nice. I am taking my planning slow like yourself. I am going to look for that thread.
