This is what I did so far
but did not work

the pipes are 1- 1/2 dia
the problem I am having is that the water not leaving the box fast enough and clog up the vent hole
should I have cap the bottom of the pipe
or cut more drain hole in the pipe

Is this suppose to be your Durso drain pipe? I'm confused about what you mean by capping the bottom. Is your bulkhead on the bottom of the tank? Here's a picture of a standard overflow pipe. Is this a strainer for your intake pipe (Picture below also)?

Hey Rich,

Your design is close to a durso, but not quite there. There are direction to do the standpipe at Mr. Durso's website:

http://www.dursostandpipes.com/">http://www.dursostandpipes.com/</a>

It works well for me, the only modification I made was to run a long tube for silencing the air intake.

I meant caping the bottom of the part that stick down into the overflow box
like yours
I drilled another hole on the ohter side but that made the problem worse

so I am going to change the elbow out to a T fitting like the one in your pic
is that a cap on the top part
if so what size hole is there

thanks
