Help with relocated tank

Hello,
<span style="font-size: 13px;">I'm back in the hobby after an eight year hiatus. I recently purchased a mature reef setup from another hobbyist who wanted out. I hired a LFS to breakdown, transport, and setup tank in my home. Due to weather, this could not be done in one day so the livestock are being maintained in the store and the tank was setup w/rock etc... and has been running for a week now. My question....should I add all the corals, critters, and fish back in at once, or add over a period of time? The corals are not that big a deal and are not that numerous. However, the fish...a Grey Head Wrasse, Powder Blue Tang, Purple Tang, Foxface Lo, Copperband Butterflyfish, Diamond Watchman Goby, Emperor Angelfish...with the exception of the Goby, all are at least 4". The tank is a 265.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

First,
You need to make sure the tank did not have a cycle or is cycling right now. Take some water to the LFS and have them test it.

Others can chime in on the order of fish to put in.

Thanks for your response. The LFS does want me to bring water sample prior to giving me my livestock back. I'm just concerned about whether or not to put all the everything back in at once, or gradually add over a few weeks. The LFS wants to ensure tank is ready, but haven't mentioned whether or not to add everything at once. The livestock was part of the move and not guaranteed by them so they have nothing to lose if things go south. They are holding in their tanks because the weather would not allow them to make the move in one day.
 
I'm not a Pro when it comes to fish additions, but I know it to be critical when adding fish to an established tank or your current situation. My recommendation is: PM (JennM) and ask for advice in the process you should take with adding the fish. I trust any advice that Jenn gives, she's known reefing for a few years now :D. You could also start another thread seeking advice of sequence to add your current fish. Be careful of some of the advice you get and make sure you do some research also.

I would be extremely careful, especially when it comes to Tangs, Butterflies, and Angels on the sequencing on your process of acclimation to your setup. Especially important as already stated in a previous post; may sure that the setup is not in a middle of a cycle. Make sure the cycling is done before you do anything. Just my 1/2 cent

I received my test kit yesterday and my results:
Ammonia: 1.2
Nitrite: 0.1
Nitrate: 2.0

I think the tank is cycling and is not ready....but I'm not sure.

You're correct. Not ready.

Did you discard the old substrate when the tank was moved? If not, I suggest doing so and replacing it with new before you start adding stuff back.

Also, what kind of test kits are you using?

If those are accurate readings you've got a while before the ammonia goes to 0 and the nitrite may go up before it goes down.

I'm assuming the old water was all discarded - if not, it should have been.

Don't be in a hurry :) If you have a place to keep stuff in the interim, work out any kinks before starting to add stuff back. And if it is being kept in a system mingled with 'for sale' fishes, you will probably want to set up a home quarantine system and quarantine your fishes before you reintroduce them to the tank. Better safe than sorry and a bit of time and money invested in prevention will save you a ton of headaches later.
