thanks guys, It really was an easy catch he didnt fight or anything, would being transfered from a tank with high nitrates to no nitrate play a role. He has kinda been breathing fast for a few days i think but no ich

everything else is ok except maybe one of the yellow watchmens i think the male has a couple of ich spot on his head, hope he makes it i love those guys!!

Being in high nitrates, depending how long, can cause gill damage - it erodes the gills making it hard for them to breathe.

Normally going from bad to better shouldn't be an issue.

Moving fish from tank to tank without knowing if there's any difference in parameters is a risky endeavor, however. Like I said, if there was a pH, specific gravity or temperature difference that was significant, any or all of those could have led to his distress and/or demise.

tnks jenn, I dont know what happend there i felt like with the big water change and new salt, ro water it would have to be better than the tank he was in, i neglected it over the past couple of months b/c i knew the transfer was coming, i was out of salt too, I will do the testing tonite but i really feel like all params will be acceptable. I got the salinity the same in both and the temp within a couple of degrees. but who knows, I was really excited to get him out of that little tank into the larger at least he got to stretch his legs for a few mins, thnks everyone for the help and advice but i feel like something was wrong with him before.
