I'm trying to decide if I want to use the Herbie style of overflow for my tank. The only problem I'm facing is that the tank is a standard RR tank, one drain and one return drilled in the overflow. I don't want to drill anything else and have read people run their return back over the top of the tank in this situation. My wife is really insisting that the tank be as close as possible to the wall, I somewhat agree and don't really want to be seeing any plumbing behind the tank. For those who have done the return this way, how far off the wall is your tank?
If I decide not to use a Herbie I'm thinking of a Hofer Gurgle buster to reduce any noise over a standard Durso drain.
