I bought a hermit crab a while back, and it seems to be upsetting my corals by walking on them. Do I just have to get rid of the crab or is there any other option?
i wouldnt worry about the coral should just close up when the HC walks on it and the open back up in a few mins. there shouldn't be any harm to the coral at all.
The hermit crabs can actually be good on the corals, they help clean it up and can even eat some parasites if you get any. The only hermit crab I had trouble with was green with stripes and thats just cause he was eating the other crabs. He lives in the sump now.
Also, for the record, he is a pretty big hermit crab, much larger than something like the blue-legged crabs that you see. And all my corals are small frags, not sure if any of that makes a difference or not.
