Hi everyone! My name i Jodi and i live in good' ole stockbridge :)
Im new to the reef keeping. Im looking for some good people to buy from, corals, live rock, possibly fish. I also need a qt tank but ANYWAYS :)
My setup is a 6 gallon ( i know i know, no bashing please) I currently use a HOB filter with fluval sponge , purigen, and another sponge. I have a rio 50 powerhead for flow. I use a small heater. 50/50 daylight and halide lighting 10,000k. 7 lbs of live rock, 2 inches of live sand. And one yellowtail damsel.
My tank has been running for 2 weeks and the cycle just finished, (nitrate @ 20ppm, nitrite 0, ammonia 0) Im looking for any advice and also just wanted to introduce myself :) Also i shop at premeir aquatics in marrietta... only place i know of really :-/

First off. Welcome!!!

No one is going to bash your tank. I am sure a few will point out that a small tank is harder to manage than a longer one but if you take it slow, ask lots of questions and follow good advice you will do fine.

Look at the sponsor map. It lists all of the Stores that sponsor the club. They are all great stores. Full members get 10% discounts on most stuff from our sponsors.

You don't want to miss it if you can make it. Think of an 8 year old walking into Toy-R-Us for the first time. :-)

More like an 8 year old walking in to a candy store with no moneys
It will be torture lol

Edit: is the clownfish or frag for members only?

I can donate my frag/clown fish if you'd like. My tank/system is still under construction :-(

Sure! I saw a post earlier about having a cooler to hold/transport while your at the expo. I didn't ask earlier, but do you have to have a cold pack or something to put in the cooler to keep the frag/clown comfortable?

I have a lunch bag/box of a nice size and i have ice packs that go in a separate compartment

Premier is an awesome store.. We love them. We live in Griffin, so it is kind of a hike up the road. Blue Planet is off of Jodeco Road in McDonough and there are an awesome store too (and closer).

Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in a guide you in the right direction.

Keep in mind, your tank temp. You want to keep frags/fish as close to that temp as you can. If it were July and not raining I would worry about keeping them cool but today is going to be cool and raining. I would suspect a cooler with not heating or cooling would be sufficient to maintain temps. Just be sure you temp acclimate when you get home.

Float the bag in the sump or tank for a good 30 minutes before you start other acclimation.
