HID Lighting

I was wondering if any of the DIY'rs here have tried to use the automotive HID lights on their tanks , refugiums etc.

Or know anyone that has - i see there are bulbs in the 6500 to 12k range.


I think I am going to build a new canopy for my tank and I am exploring the options out there new HO compact fluorescent s, L.E.D,s etc -


And if no one has tried this , if anyone has access to a car or the than may have been wrecked that had those lights , wann get together and see if it will work ?

The wattage is too low and the bulb too small too light a larger area with the required intensity.
