whats the easiest way to reduce alkalinity without screwing w ph? (at least not more then temporarily)
my buffer (tech CB) must be off ...
 
I would just stop adding alkalinity buffer and let it drop by itself as the reef uses it up, then when it reaches the level you want, start dosing again at a lower volume and test until you get a steady KH reading, then stick with that daily volume.

Same thing happened to my tank. The others here are right, just leave it be and check alk. daily. What i ended up needing to do is check alk then ph if alk is good and ph is low then use "Balance" a product from seachem's aquavitro line. This is working for me. As alk drops, then use your normal buffer. Do all this slowly as things need a day to stew before adding to much to quick. Make sure the caliums stays good.
