Well Ive never had a problem with this guy. Something is wrong though, He is FAT and breathing very heavy hiding in the rockwork flapping his fins extreamly fast. Why does he look so fat all of a sudden?? Almost like there is a baloon in his stomach.

Water is perfect
He is about 1.5-2"
Did he just eat too much???

I just fed the tank 2 hours ago and just now noticed.

What did you feed them? Sometimes fish get intestinal blockages and then get bloated due to gas. Yes it happens to fish as well!

Thats what I figured. I feed my false perc formula one flake and the hippo is a hog.

Well I woke up today right when the lights kicked on. He was sleeping behind my powerhead as usual then like a bullet darts to the same spot in the rock still breathing hard and fin flapping like crazy. Injury?

He probably did eat too much. When a fish really chows down it needs extra oxygen to fuel digestion. It was 'finning' water over its gills to bring oxygenated water to the gill plate.
