I'm new. Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place. I inherited a 60 gallon "established" fish only tank from a friend. It came with a Emperor 400 HOB filter and two T5 bulbs. Yes, I eventually would love to do all the fun hidden filtration underneath but can't afford it right now. I want to make it a reef tank. I have a Aqueon 75 HOB that I was using in a 55 freshwater tank. Ok here is my question. Is it a bad idea to add the Aqueon 75 for additional filtration? If you think I should use it should I use the carbon filters that would typically be used in this type of unit or should I have some other type of media in the second unit? If another media what should I use? Also, does it matter that it's been in a freshwater tank if I scrubbed and clean it with tap water? Thank you for any help out there.
