I noticed in clints FS thread that an aqua clear can make a good refugium for a small tank. I am setting up a 30g hex, and I think an idea like this would be great. I have 2 related questions though. I have a MH pendant that will hang above the tank, so would I need aditional light to grow macroalgae in this filter, also, would I need to open or cut out some of the plastic for more light to enter the filter, or would the light penitrate the clear cover enough to grow algae? Thanks guys for any ideas.
I have a spare emperor, but they create too much spray so the light is coated in salt too quickly and can damage the fixture so I would not use that. I do not have any space under the stand to do anything. A remote sump is possible, but not in the near future. I need to expand water volume in the 30 for a more stable system, as well as offering good filtration.
