HOB Refugium

I am thinking about adding a HOB refugium to my 30 gallon long tank. I currently am just running a power filter with some purigen. The goal is to help remove nutrients because I have some hair algae starting to get a foot hold.

I saw that CPR has one and thought about using that. Has anyone used a HOB fuge or would it be too small to make a difference? Thoughts?

I am planning on adding a skimmer also, hopefully soon.
