Horseshoe crab

Anyone ever had any dealings with this crab?? Is it aggressive/reef safe?? LFS here had one, and I thought it was neat looking-just didn't know anything much about it.

It'll pretty much just be out of sight under the sandbed eating your benefitial fauna. Very cool, but you'll rarely actually see them. In addition, they typically slowly starve to death in all but the largest of tanks. My friend had one for years though in a 120. He ended up having to hand feed the thing to keep it alive.

Also, they get pretty dang big.

I have one, but you'd never know it. I never see it. But, I know that he's there becuase my sand stays disturbed.

so in other words--not a good choice for a reef tank?

they are not really a good idea because you don't have the ability to keep food there for him. once he eats all the food in the sand bed then they pretty much starve to death.
