How about this light

Hi everyone,
What about this light on a 10gal frag tank? I have LPS and a few SPS. The SPS are at the top of the tank. LMK if it would help the corals grow. Thanks Mike:up:

I don't see why not. In fact, in a tank that small this may be too strong. T5's are very capable lights for SPS, and certainly enough for LPS.

So you are saying Jeff that with the SPS on the bottom of the tank that these lights will burn them? But would be great for LPS? IF these are to strong what lights do you suggest? At this time I have these over the tank at this time

No, I'm saying this light should be fine for SPS, but to watch them and make sure you're not burning them or you may need to lift the light higher or drop the corals.

Overall, I wouldn't set this right on top of the tank and have SPS 4-5 inches under it. I'd try to keep them around 6-8" or so and have much of that be in the water.

Ive used their lights before switching to led and I loved them and my corals did also, my setup at that time was a 60 gallon and I used the 4 bulb fixture

Nope, no way IMHO. Those crappy little LED strips are not really good for anything but maybe a tinge of color.

At the end of the day, if you want growth, you want MH or T5's. If you do use LEDs, you need decent LEDs and that strip is not in that category.

I agree, I didnt like those marineland leds at all

That is what I thought..I was in abind and needed something quick. I will probably go with the T-5 fixture from MD or whoever has the best price. Thanks everyone.

Mike. That light would be good. And if u go to alittle bigger tank u can transfer the light.

Main thing to look for in T5 lighting is individual reflectors, which this light has...so you'll be more than good
