Saturday I got a quarter size piece of what I believe is Pavona decussata , if not its some type of potato chip pavona.
The person it came from had it lieing in a rack , but I believe I have a bit more random current and because its tiny I'm afraid it may get bated around some.
I don't know how to put it on a plug because it has polyps on both sides I dont want to glue the polyps down.
One side is more concaved giving it a dish shape so I figure either that side facing up or glue it on its edge so both sides get exposure ?
How should I treat this situation..

Good question. I am by no means a frag mounting expert, but I can suggest how I usually approach mounting a frag. I start by looking at pics of the natural growth pattern of the coral. Then try and orient the frag in a similar manner depending on where I want to put it. Basically an encrusting species I mount flat and an upright I mount upright (I never claimed to be an expert or even helpful). I have both types of pavona and they all did fine with that method. Or just mount it how it looks best in the spot you want it in. You will probably lose some tissue whichever way you mount it though as one side or edge will be against frag or rock and glued.

Glue it down on the flat side of the frag. With the frag laying down is ok. It will plate out from there. Polyps will be ok

If you have a dremel with a cutting blade you can make a curved cut in the plug, a drop of glue and stand it on the small end. That might work! :D

i wouldnt worry about killing a couple polyps just glue it down with the concave side up and it will grow and encrust the plug and plate out as well.
