the title is pretty self explanatory. do you prefer frag plugs, disks, shells, or rubble and your reason if you have one

I like disks for chalice so they can spread over it on the sand bed, sps I like to glue directly to my rock work and I like plugs for my zoa's so I can stick them in the rock and they cover the plug

I agree with this ^^

I use rubble as it looks natural. Also, buying lace rock and smashing it with a hammer is cheap (and a lot of fun)

Doug and Dylan what about acans? I like my Lps on shells because it will grow and cover it and you have that nice uniform look like you get with disks but they're curved so it has a more natural look. And Doug busting up the lace is also good stress relief lol

For acans, I try to find a rock that has a nice shape and mount it to that. The shell would work very well if you are looking for even growth.

sps frag plugs.

Once they encrust the plug snap it off... viable frag left on the plug to regrow.. then add the stalk to your rock work.

I think rubble is the only way to go for a dt. I'm constantly changing the look if my tank and its great to be able to pop the rubble loose and move it without having to disturb the coral.

Well first I buy them dinner and tell him how purdy they are...mounting comes later. :lol2:

no shock here rubble is the overwhelming winner but im a little surprised i am the only one that likes things mounted to shells

thats weird i didnt know that is it just from the animal absorbing it over their lifetime and it leeching out due to degradation over time?

Good to know that others too like rubble! I prefer unmounted though, it's amazing how many little undesirable critters can come in on frag mounts of whatever type.
