How high to mount LED's

Just got LEDs and currently have them mounted a foot above the tank. How high do you guys mount yours?

I have mine about 7 or 8 inches above the water. From what I've been told the higher the better (it's supposed to lesson the disco effect). I'd like to go higher but there is no room in the canopy. I think a foot is perfect.

I have 60 degree optics over a 180g tank and mine are 5-6 inches off water.

I've got 2 ai sol blues above my 150 about 4 inches above the water mounted to an 18in ext rail

All my corals seem happy and I've got a lil 3 inch squamosa on the sand bed that seems very happy and a leather that's grown about 5 inches since I got the lights in January

24 inch fixture with 90 degree optics mounted a foot above tank

120g 60 optics as well. About 6" off the water. 3 fixtures

92g corner with 3 maxspect mazarra p units. 100 degree optics at 6-7" above water.

It depends on what LEDs you have. The more expensive LEDs will have a recommend height that you should mount them. I have the Taotronic LEDs and I have mine about 10in off the water and it does great. Also I believe the higher you have the LEDs the great the shimmer effect.
