how important is chaeto?

I've read mixed things on it. If you have a huge tank full of chaeto, I've heard it can be very good for removing nitrates... but in small quantities on a small volume of water, it doesn't have a big effect.

I'm trying to gauge whether or not I should spend money on a refuge light / ball of chaeto for only a .3 gallon chamber space in my sump.

Worth it for a 20 gallon tank?

Not IMHO if traits are high your better off doing a small WC

I'd agree....small tank shouldn't have an issue if you're doing weekly water changes.
