How long does she live the shimp in?

well, nicoles tank up & running, but she asked me a great question that since I didn't have the great support staff of ARC, I did it the wrong way! Anyway, she's cycling, do how long does she leave the raw shrimp in? Does it get replaced? Or just rots and disinergrates?

put in mesh or media sock, because it starts breaking up when it decomposes. Do not leave it in the tank. Should only take 2-3 days, test the water, when ammonia spikes take it out. It will stink something awful. Make sure you throw it away in the outside garbage.

I have always heard you leave in until the first test shows ammonia then take it out.. The longer it stays the higher the ammonia will go and thus makes for a longer cycling timeframe

Why use shrimp and not just a few pieces of dry or frozen food?

she don't have any food. Raw or shrimp cocktail is recommended, too.

I would stick one of the Seachem ammonia alerts in the tank as well just to be sure it's safe.
