How long to bathe in vinegar?

I want to clean my Gyre pump with vinegar and found ratios of vinegar to water. But how long do I soak in the mixture? Will the coraline algae just disappear or I will still have to scrape it off? Also, correct me if I am wrong, but it seems rinsing with hot water is sufficient to get off the vinegar when done.

In the future try cleaning with citric acid. It's less harsh on the plastic and it won't get as brittle.
