Hey, im thinking about keeping my MH's i got with a 145g tank, that im selling, and using them in the canopy of my 60. Are the 2 400's too much light and will it cook everything, or are they enough to get the job done, and drope my underpowered T5's

I'd bet two 400's will cause a lot of evap and bleaching over a 60. What are the tank dimensions?

48*13*by 27i think.

is my best bet to drop the 400 bulbs and move to something lower? im underpowered onj my lights right now i beleive, ive got a two bulb T5 GLO fixture.

oh yeah, two 400's would be too much heat...not light...just heat. i run a single 400 over my 24" cube and it's perfect. Two 250s should be fine.

cool i figured it was too much. Alrighty, next dumb question. Is there a difference in sockets for 250's vs 400's or just different outputs? I had nothing todo with buying these other than buying them uswed form a guy who bought em used, from a guy who made it a DIY project.

same socket i think....usually its just the ballast and the bulb that have to match up wattage wise.....cant run a 250w bulb on a 400w ballast....unless ya want glass in your tank....

I bet there is someone on here that would happily trade lighting with ya. Someone needs to upgrade right?

I have a nikon d5000 and really like it so far. I can't seem to take a good pic of my tank due to the blueness of the light, but otherwise it has been great. Got it from adorama.com for cheaper than anywhere else.
