How many people dose VODKA?

I have been thinking about dosing vodka in my 180, and was wondering how many people here have been doing this for 6 months+. Also I was wondering your opinions on it. Pros/Cons.

I rune ozone in my tank now as I was reading about it earlier helping in case of overdosing. I dont have alot of livestock but I really like to overfeed.

My nitrates stay about 15 and I would like to see zero. Phosphates are a little high I think but I have to get a better test kit.

I tried it for about 9 months didn't really help in my situation.Added a DSB to my fuge and a lot of live rock and rubble to my fuge, nitrates now 0. And I run rowa phos in a reactor and phosphates are undetectable.

I started dosing pure grain alcohol about 3 months ago, I started at .5 cc and have gradually raised to 7 cc per day now. Not sure how different it is than vodka but my trates have dropped to 10ppm. I would turn off your skimmer for several hours after dosing though.

Whats the purpose of turning the skimmer off? I thought the skimmer

I have been dosing for about a year now. My nitrates were always 30, now always 0 (or close to it). I built up to a 12 ml daily dose for my 180 with a 55 gallon sump.

I dosed mine for over 2 years until i broke down my tank. I did use the blue coral method from europe (pappone, amino acids, hgh, vodka) and modified it a little, but i think it worked pretty well for me. Awesome colors and awesome growth

Isn't this the same as using 5% vinegar?

I did it for a while before I broke down the 46 gallon, and it works wonders. Just be careful, and read read read, and of course read some more. Definatly add some elos amino acids while dosing!

Your skimmer poo will turn from brown to black. It's really nasty!

My skimmer went crazy once so I just shut it off for about 2 hours every night after I add the alcohol. It is my belief that shuting off the skimmer will allow the alcohol do be more effective. Kinda like Brightwells Fuel (carbon source) tells you to in their instructions.

yes, you can use vinegar as a carbon source, however, you would have to use a lot more (which could depress PH), since you are talking about 5% acetic acid versus 40% ethanol.
