How many watts with LEDS?

So I toying with the idea of doing an LED build. It's still way up in the air planning wise. But since I'm planning I kinda need to know how many 3 watt LEDS I'd need. I know that the Cree's are too expensive.

My tank is 30x20x20 but it is in wall so I can only light 20x15 or so.

Let me know what you guys think.

Here's my general design idea using 27 3 watt leds with a mix of blues, whites, reds and greens. If I don't add the red/green they will be become blues. Also if I can the 2 middle blue on the middle bar will be constantly on for moon light effect but the wiring might get too hard.

Also one last detail the furthest bar back is rotated about 15 degrees due to my rock structure.

That should say 30x15 not 20x15. For the area I can light.

I think that the systems that I've seen with "too much blue" really look more purple..

I wouldn't begin to say do this or that (because I think it would be something that you'd have to play with to get perfect)..

the problem is that there's not many places to go where you can see a DIY LED setup
