I'm searching for a used 180 gallon tank and stand only. A guy at work has one for $600 but the stand needs some work. Is that a good price?

I just bought a 210rr tank only for $550.

It seems like the prices can be all over the board when I was shopping. I saw a lot of people holding out for ridiculous prices like $1k for tank/stand combo and then I'd see the occasional really good deal of a 180rr for like $300 (of course who knows what kind of condition it was in).

I thk a good price for a 180rr would be $450-650 tank only.

I'd offer your guy like $450 for just the tank.

If the tank is in good shape and the stand will support the tank... that's a good price. Three are on craigslist today for $600, $700, and $1150.

My standard for a used tank is $1/gal up to a 100g tank. After that I may go as high as $2.50/gal depending on the maker and setup of the tank. It really comes down to how much you are willing to pay. A good deal is when the seller got what he wanted and buyer paid what they wanted.

Make sure the overflows are ok. And not out dated.i bought a 120 and it had the old style drain pipes and i had to spend $150 on new ones. Also make sure Seals are ok. Not a bad price but u could talk him down alittle. Always have a few hundred dollars as a buffer when doing a tank cause you never know what extra things come up. Trust me it is happening to me right now lol

Check Reef Central. There's a guy in Dawsonville, GA selling a tank and stand, but doesn't have enough posts to post it here...

Prices are wildly varied depending on the tank mfr, stand construction, included equipment, age of tank and most importantly, who is selling it.

i.e., the guy who set up a beautiful custom 180, brand new, 5 years ago and is now taking down because he is moving/etc will want (and likely get) more for his tank than someone who picked up a tank as a hand-me-down or garage sale and decided they just didn't want to get into it.

There is no minimum post count here. You must be a paid member to sell on the ARC forum.

I appreciate all the replies. I bought a 175 gallon bow front this past weekend for $550. That included a stand, 200-300 lbs of LR, mag 24 and some other little goodies. I'm extremely satisfied!!!
