How much sand do I need for...

Sorry to keep bugging my fellow reefers with "how much" questions but I need an estimate. I want a 2 inch araganite type substrate in a tank that is 36 x 24 x 25. That is approx 90 G but not the traditional measurements. About how many pounds would I need?

well on my 30g long I used 30lbs roughlt and the dimensions are 36" * 12" and I have about a 2" sand bed. So possibly double that for your extra 12" in width and get 60lbs. Does that make sense?

you like a waste bin in your tank, i understand...lol, just messing. I too love the sand, but after cleaning out my sand from the 55, I'm glad I decided BB for my new tank.

Keep in mind that live rock bottoms will decrease the amount of sand you need in the tank. I calced mine out then figured out too late I bought too much sand as the rockwork displaced a very large amount of the sand.
