how often do you guys test your water?

i just bought my test kits i guess 2 weeks ago and have been testing like 2 times a week. Is that too much? I figured i was just anxious with the kits and like knowing my params at all times.

would once a week be enought? too much?

that answer depends upon a few factors.

before your tank is stable, you might have to take certain parems every other day? Just kinda depends what your stituation is. mostly once a week should be ok. Also if you change something,i.e., salt, you might want to check more often.

After your tank has settles down (after a year or 2), you might take some measurements once a week to once a month.

I test about once every month.. And only test CA and alk

It mostly depends on your tank and what you are testing it for. On a stable tank, this is the schedule I go for.

Nitrates/phosphates - once every two months
Calcium - monthly
Alk - weekly (daily when setting up Ca reactor)

If you don't have SPS, you can do all tests once a month.

I have only tested my tank once in the past year. I should add that I have a 20 and do a 5 gallon water change every 2-3 weeks.
