would this be enough light in a tank that shallow ?

The only issue with those par bulbs is they can spot light really bad. Make sure you get one that doesn't have 40 degree optics on it.

For the price difference I'd go with this. It offers a two year warranty

Same thing as above but it runs 30 blue 25 white so the color will be more like a real 14k.

I have a few of these as demo units in different LED configurations, I prefer them in much bluer though.

the tank is 16x20 x 11 high

Edit: my main concern is LED with the anemone .....

I could go RBTA and not have an issue though probably

I would use that bulb on that tank unless you were going to use 3 or 4 bulbs

But that's just my opinion

Ebay LED Lights have come along way. It's probably still "hit or miss" a bit, like any new technology, but they're 3watt LEDs, not the 1 watt like we've seen in the past. They also offer dual power cords and fans, and some, like the one I linked above, offer generous warranties.

Remember Solaris Sys LED lights? They were top of the line, $200 per linear foot (on Sale), and then after a year of use, they crapped out with no warranty.

At least these are cheap; replacement of the whole fixture is little more than you'd pay for two metal halide replacement bulbs (which is supposed to be done every six months).

Does anyone have EXP with the Ecoxotic PAR38s though? I was thinking JUST one anemone in there with a few clowns.. maybe zoas.. but there's not much room for a lot of stuff.. so spotlighting wouldnt be an issue I wouldn't think.

I like this possibility because I would get a "bar light" that hangs down a few feet and install it that way to keep thinks really sleek.

ALSO.. If I put this on a rheostat will it dim? or is that a bad idea?

Thanks,

B

Ecoxotic make fantastic products. I highly recommend that company. You can also contact that company directly with any questions you may have. They have a sweet setup at MACNA as well.
