Building my own sump.

I really have no idea where to begin, Nothing.
It will be the first time I tried to build something.

So does anyone know where I can read how to do this, or give me some ideas.
thanks alot

It's actually pretty easy, but with a 55 the space front to back is really small so it's hard to find a tank that will fit, but I think a 20 gallon long will fit... Just get some glass/acrylic/plexiglass and silicone it in, hold it with clamps, and wait 24 for it to cure then hook it up!!!

It shouldn't be that hard, just go to the do it yourself forum and type in "sumps",lots of people have built them before.
Hope this helps

This being the case, you'll want to make a few smaller ones to make sure you know what you're doing. The last thing you want is to waste a ton of money and it not turn out right or worse, it falls apart.

Yeah we are probably going to upgrade to a 90 gallon... so maybe it will be easier.
I mean I am in no hurry for it to be done.
But I need to where to begin. what to buy.

What exactly does the sump do?
I know its a stupied question.. but I am still fairly new.

Use the 55.
The sump is a place for filtration and to house the equipment that goes along with it. You could have one return of the 90 go into the skimmer side and the other on the fuge side filled with sand, live rock and macro with a submersible return pump in the middle.
