The other night, I was lucky to have avoided nuking my tank.
I am only telling the story so that it may possibly stick in someone's mind and make them more careful than I was.
I had been over at Blu_Devl_06's with Robb. When I got back I fed the fish, so I cut the powerheads and return pump off.
After a few minutes my Daughter woke up crying, so off I went to comfort her. I lay down with her and... fell asleep.
Before work the next day I did my usual take-a-glance-at-the-tank check, and noticed water that was calm and smooth as a mirror... and too quiet.
I then realized that I had not turned any of the pumps back on after feeding... about 8 hours with ZERO flow.
I turned everything back on and, thank God, everything was OK.
My carelessness could have very well killed all my fish and possibly my corals.
This was the defining moment in my decision to buy a controller, so that I can set up alarms and also use the "feed" mode so that everything turns back on automatically.
Please be more careful than I was!
