Holy CRAP!

<div class="gc_ifarem_title">YouTube - &#x202a;Bristle Worm eats whole Fish&#x202c;&rlm;</div><iframe style="width: 70%; height: 400px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/t23eylcc-WE&feature=related"></iframe>

Isn't that a euchnid (sp?) worm? It's not a bristle worm.

I can't watch YouTube @ work, was the fish alive or was it silver side type food from feeding????

very cool...

a number of years ago when I had one (actually 2), I was arguing with Fenner & Borneman, and they were stating that my various missing shrimp, fish, and what not were missing due to other reasons as These worms are strictly detrivores.........

yeah, whatever!

They are detritovores. That silverside wasn't alive, it was dead and the worm simply ate it up. They don't kill stuff, but they'll make short work of dead stuff. If your fish/shrimp died first, the worms will eat them, but that video does not show that the worm killed it - it was already dead.

no...

they dont come out with the lights on.. and they're fast... (faster than a tang when you're trying to catch it, fast).

I have a worm that goes into a hole in the rocks... Its black and white and has feathery type things at the end... comes out during dark times, although I have seen it during light time... Is that a bristle worm too? or a euchnid worm or whatever? I will try to post a pic.

Edit: what is this?

I'm thinking so, albeit I never saw come out during the day...

I did watch it move slow like that when it appeared to be going after prey...

However, eating an entirely intact fish whole leads me to believe they are capable of eating and killing...kinda like a snake eating a dead frozen rat versus a live rat...ni hard evidence, however....just my opinion from having a couple over a year or two..

it's not an Eunicid worm.. didn't have the 4 long "feelers" at the mouth that I saw..

Edit: but admittedly.. the guy could have scraped the glass & cleaned off the outside before filming..

the one in the video is absolutely a bristle worm, I have been stung by one that size before. It was pretty bad.
