My 20 gallon nano has a cracked side panel. What can I do temporarily to keep it from breaking completely until I can replace it?

That's not a good situtation... If I were you I'd put a ratchet strap around it, snug, not tight. Then I would pay any price for a new tank ASAP!!! Is Petco still having their dollar a gallon sale?

Edit: Or maybe just drain it all into plastic bins and go get the new tank. IDK how long i'd trust a cracked one (really I wouldn't trust it at all), never experienced the problem.

Drain it while a wife or GF sources another tank. 20 gallons seems like 1000 when it is on the floor.

Edit: I would not strap it. Any uneven pressure may finish what the crack started.

OK as I started to take the rock out to get ready to drain it....guess what happened?

Talk about a sigh of relief. I guess I should have looked closer. I swear it was a crack.

Situation averted.

The ratchet strap might have been a bad idea (I just said it's what I would do, not that you should! (and I realize you didn't))

For future, and from those with experience, would you have suggested draining at least half the tank first and then moving the rock? I'm guessing the water movement from lifting rocks finished the job.

To Matt, good luck! I have a 55 and 5.5 gal and some bins sitting empty if you can't find anything closer than Cumberland. You probably have a plan, but figured I'd offer.

Edit: too slow on my part, but thank goodness for you!

It didn't break. There was a piece of straw that got stuck on the glass that I swore was a crack in the glass...even at close range. But when I started moving stuff around it floated off. I should be more observant I guess.

Too slow for me too. Lol

Wheew! Cleaning up water is never fun. I'm glad you don't have to find that out for yourself.

Oh I know all about cleaning up water. This same exact tank sprung a leak just as I got it set up. I had to drain it a reseal out and start over.
