Hey folks,

This has been growing for awhile, but I just noticed that it enveloped a paly. What is it? Anything to remove it beyond manually gettin out what I can?

Is it moving like a nudi or is it simply growing over it? I would pull it and scrub it with a tooth brush. 60secs wouldn't hurt anything and then rinse it with fresh ro before you put it back in

It's just slowly growing. It almost looks like some sort of plating coral. We're upgrading the tank soon so I think I'm just going to break off what I can and wait to scrub the rock until we move it.

It's sort of hard and where it's grown off the rock, brittle.

The way it appears to be growing onto the Palys it doesn't seem to be a hard plate so I think it is a type of algae. I've seen cyano get pretty thick and look very dark red/purple. I'd continue to syphon or just use tweezers to pick it off.
