Yeah that looks like it! but are they good? My frogspwan has not been doing well so could this be the answer?

supposedly eats algae. But could be disturbing the frogspawn I guess.

There are only a few chitons that are predetory, yours does not appear to be one of those. Virtually all predatory chitons get rather large, if this guy reaches more than 2" then begin to be concerned. Most chitons are diatom eaters. I often have them for sale.

Here are some links and info, I have a bunch more if anyone would like.

Au01st: It takes a village. Your guess would be as good as mine as to how many would be recomended, I personally would be comfortable with 4 or 5 in a 75 possibly 1 of several species. You would not want to rely on chitons or any other invert solely to control algeas but a combination of all sorts of inverts will provide you with the clean and healthy ecosystem you desire.

It certainly looks like the Chiton, however my first thought was a type of limpet snail. Might be worth looking at some info on them as well.

Negative. Limpets have smooth shells...

Oval, 8-valve molluscs are chitons (polyplacophera), not limpets. This one is most likely harmless.

Yup, I have a combination of astrea, nerite, nassarius, cerith, and turbo snails, as well as blue leg hermits, scarlet reef hermits, and brittle sea stars. I'm still looking to add a cucumber, and possibly a horseshoe crab (I know they grow fast, but I'm still researching). Always looking to add to the CUC with new finds.
