I just picked this up off Craigslist for $75. This was running on a 300g reef tank before the owner switched it to freshwater. She was the second owner of the setup and was not sure of the brand name and model.

I am pretty sure what it is, I just want some second opinions.

Dimensions. 10" w 5.5' d 8'h with tower 21 3/8' high.

Let me know what you think.

There was a guy in Atlanta that made knock-offs of a skimmer that looked exactly like that. In fact, I had one of his and now I can't remember the name. I think it was Aqua C but can't be sure. Somebody with more experience than I will know.

Looks a lot like a aqua c evo. Look at daniellin's f/s thread. There is a pic of one for sale

Most signs point to a AquaC EV-180 but there are subtle differences.

I'm just wondering if it's a variation, or a knock off. I'm sure it will do what i need with a Mag 9 overdrive. I'm just curious as to what it exactly is.

It's not an Aqua C or MRC. IIRC it was something like Aquatecture (or something like that). The difference is this one uses a standard venturi, while the AquaC uses their patented restrictive nozzle and MRC uses a beckett to produce the bubbles in the skimmer.

Don't worry for the brand ;) as long as it pull nasty skimmate! Try it and let us know that you save a lot on that size skimmer! Nice price overall! He!

You talking about Tom Clothe (sp?) It looks a bit like his work but I'm not positive. I have several of his ETSS knockoffs that are probably 15 years old (and still going strong).

Oh, BTW, the lady who had these still has another one available for $75 if anyone wants one.

Worth the trip just to see the monstrous 300g acrylic she picked up for $200.She has one heck of a story behind getting 2 of these and a ton of equipment.
