I have a 20 + 20 setup cycling right now. It is a bare bottom tank and has a deep sand bed refugium in the sump. It has 96 Watts of T5 HO lighting. It has a closed loop system (780Gph)for flow, plus an additional 500gph from the return. I have been trying to work out what I want the inhabitants to be. I know I will have a clam in at some point. Also, I will have a mixed set of LE corals. Here are the ideas I have had:

blue carpet nem and a bunch (6 or 7) false percs

dwarf golden moray and a yellow wartskin angler

RBTA with a pair of onyx clowns

I need other ideas as to what I could do with this setup. What would your dream nano have as inhabitants?

My next nano will be a harlequin shrimp tank, those things are wicked. All they eat though is starfish and will starve without them so there is the downside for ya.

Yeah, if I did the nem idea, it would be the only thing in there. It would fill the tank at full size. I like the RBTA and onyx clowns, but that is what everybody has. I am wanting to do something unique.

780/500 gph both sounds too high for a 20. I'm nothing close to knowledgeable really, but that seems too strong for any inhabitance.

Id have some bangin' corals and either a pair of bangai cardinals, or fire fish (the purple ones, or the blueish ones if I could afford it)

The 780 is split between 3 outlets. The 500 is out of one outlet. It should be fine. I have 4 koralia nanos plus the output of my remora skimmer in my other 20 and it has sand on the bottom. That is roughly 1200 gph total as well.

Bangaii cardinals could be cool. It would be nice to see them reproduce.

I don't think it would fit in the tank. J/K

It doesn't get that hot. The canopy has 11 fans in it. I have to have heaters keep it up to temp.
