I have a few spots on my rock that are a dark redish color and kind of soft.

Also, I'm seeing much brighter spots on the rocks that look like coraline. The spots have been getting brighter. My rocks were a dry, is it possible for coraline to come back to life?

I think you introduced it into your tank when you put corals in. I can see plenty on the frag plug/rock in that picture.

If its hard then its probably coralline, coralline will grow on any hard surface so its not really coming back to life. If its soft then its something else.

Ok thanks Pops and Dave, so it will just spread on its own? Yes, there's def some on the frag rock I got from Deb.

Yes it will spread all over...good or bad depending on your tastes. I have urchins that eat a lot of it but I have to scrap what they leave on the back wall.
