I have a 90 gallon medium bio load. Right now I have a Euro-reef rs80, but it doesn't seem to be keeping up. I was looking at a reef octopus 6. Do you guys think this would be much of an upgrade from what I already have? It says it's rated for 150 gallons, but I know that is high. Thanks in advance.

I really can't tell you which skimmed is best but i've always read that getting a skimmed that is rated larger than your tank is always better cause it does a better job of keeping up with the bioload. Have you looked at the avast skimmers? I hear they are nice

Maddog I have a Super Reef Octopus on my tank about 90 gallons total, and a skimmer rated for 180 and it pulls black stuff constantly. I just added my 4th fish Tuesday and its doing fine.

i have never heard of these skimmers, but I will look into them.

What's the model number for that? I found the xp1000, but its only rated for 110 gallons.

I have the XP2000Int. I don't know how much room you have to work with but there is also the external version and super space saver.

Space is my main problem. I have a small sump. Im working with about an 11"x11" area.

Have you seen the octopus skimmers that have the.pump built into the underside of the base these look like they don't take up a lot of horizontal space

I was pretty limited on space and went with an Ocean Force by MRC. The pump is built into the underside so the footprint is pretty small. Apparently they're coming out with a revised line but the one I have works great. Plus I've been able to bug Skriz with any questions.

I had a reef octopus 160 on my 90gal and it was a beast. Loved it. And they're fairly cheap. But I love my MRC skimmer!

I just measured my Super Reef 2000 int, and requires about 11x14ish. Not sure if your sump is underneath your tank...don't forget the height limitations for getting it in/out.

At the moment my sump is under the tank. I have about 11x11 inches to work with. I may go with the space saver version. Im not sure it's in my budget though.
