I also recommend getting the deepest tank you can get if you plan on having a see through from both sides. Mine is 18" and it is just not deep enough to have a nice sandy area on both sides of the rock.
When building your stand, build in some sort of drain pan for any water over flows. Also, build your stand deeper than your tank to allow for enough real estate under your stand for nice size sumps and equipment. I lost about 8" in depth due to 2x4's in the walls.
Think about air ventilation as well. I added 2 8" fans with one pulling air into the canapé. Speaking of canopies, you may want to add exhaust fans too.
