In wall tank

Im thinking of doing a in wall reef tank? What size tank would look cool? I'm thinking 6' on width, I'm more looking for suggestions on height and depth

As cool as in-wall sounds - check the semi-in-wall builds, where you essentially reverse front and back.
So the tank protrudes a bit into the room with the back being accessible from the other room.

Best of both worlds.

Full on in-walls diminsh the depth perception quite a bit.

I agree with Robin and Jesse. Also consider cleaning access when you decide placement and depth of the tank. My 300g is 24" tall and 30" wide. I have to stand on a ladder and lean way over to reach the bottom at the back. I am fairly tall

I also recommend getting the deepest tank you can get if you plan on having a see through from both sides. Mine is 18" and it is just not deep enough to have a nice sandy area on both sides of the rock.

When building your stand, build in some sort of drain pan for any water over flows. Also, build your stand deeper than your tank to allow for enough real estate under your stand for nice size sumps and equipment. I lost about 8" in depth due to 2x4's in the walls.

Think about air ventilation as well. I added 2 8" fans with one pulling air into the canapé. Speaking of canopies, you may want to add exhaust fans too.

I did a 120 (48 x 24) I wanted a 150 (48x30) to allow plenty of room for the lr and for the sand infront. You can see in my tank from all four sides. And I have to use a stool to reach the sand. I have a full canopy but due to splitting the wall like I did it only allowed for a smaller sump a 55 gal make sure you have all of your equipment before you plumb or build your Sump

Marineland deep dimeNsion 300 is pretty sweet. 72 x 36 x 27. Great dimensions for a semi in the wall tank. I have about 26" out of the wall. Great views from 3 sides. I originally went fully in the wall but moved it out for better viewing and more access behind the tank. I've had it up for about 6 weeks and really like it.
