The other project bobz helped me with on Saturday was getting my RO/DI unit running. After reading all the posts I could find on the topic and a phone conversation with The Filter Guys, I decided to buy their 75 GPD Five Stage Ocean Reef RO/DI System.
It looks like a nice unit with water pressure gauge and in line dual TDS meter both of which were probably unnecessary. Although a hand held TDS meter would have been essential. The parts and connections were well marked and the instructions were very detailed with pictures. The only negative about getting it is it comes standard with kits to tap into a feed line and waste line but I'm not ready to decide a permanent location for it yet so I needed a 1/4" tube to hose adapter so I could hook it up to the tub in the garage. They have a quick connect adapter available for just $6 which is very reasonable, but when I added it to the order it increased the shipping by another $11. So I took it off the order and got what I needed from a combination of Home Depot and Ace Hardware. Here's all that came with it and how I have it hooked up. Bob and I built a simple stand to attach it all to that is easily moved around. When I first started it up the output of the RO read 20 but went to 0 within a minute or so of running. The output of the DI also read 0. I may not have needed the DI on my water if the output of the RO remains at 0. I'd still like to test my water in and out with a hand held TDS meter just to make sure it is all working correctly.
