Interesting Acan color

I bought this Acan as a single head probably 6 months ago. Half of it was green and the other half was orange. It appears that the new growth on each side is taking the color from whichever side it is growing on.

I’m not sure if this is normal or what. I guess I just wanted to see if anyone has had this happen and if so, does this make the piece “rare” or “more valuable”?

Could two acans have been trimmed down the middle and grown into one? That is cool though, I'd imagine it would be worth more if all of them were split colors.
